What is Glo?

GLO is a community resource center for LGBTQ+youth and young adults of color. We serve ages 14 - 34 and center the experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ men of color and trans women of color.

What is Going on at Glo?

GLO is a 1,500 sq. ft. space with a lounge area outfitted with a comfortable sofa and smart TV, a work station for participants equipped with two desktop computers, a small dining area and kitchenette complete with an oven, stove, refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven, harm reduction lockers, two gender neutral restrooms, one wheelchair accessible with a built-in shower, a food and hygiene pantry and three private offices. Programming is offered weekly and range in topic from Vogue and How to Beat your Face to Holistic Wellness and HIV Mythbusters.

What is YAB?

The GLO Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is comprised of 10 dynamic queer men and trans women of color from the Harrisburg area ranging in age from 14 to 34. Following a youth-led model, YAB members meet monthly and offer thoughtful consideration to the ideal location, hours of operation, methods of engagement, and the types of programming that would best benefit their peers. These youth and young adult leaders also advise partner organizations on how best to serve their communities and proudly work to establish a safe, affirming space for queer LGBTQ+ youth of color.

Carter

Site Director

Carter provides supervision to GLO staff, develops and manages programming, leads community outreach efforts, co-facilitates Youth Advisory Board meetings, supports day to day operations at GLO and provides HIV/STI testing.

Gabe

Youth Programs Coordinator

Gabe establishes and maintains community partnerships with area schools and universities, provides GSA support to students and advisors, assists in managing GLO's social media accounts, assists in the day to day operations at GLO and provides HIV/STI testing.

Tony

Community Engagement Specialist

he/him/his

Tony performs outreach in the community through school/agency visits, leading info sessions and tabling events, manages all therapy referrals, provides resources and support to GLO eligible youth and young adults, assists in the planning and implementation of programs and events, accompanies participants to appointments upon request, assists in the day to day operations at GLO and provides HIV/STI testing.

Cycy

Prevention Specialist

she/her/hers

CyCy connects participants to healthcare services, sends testing reminders for participants on our 3 month schedule, conducts regular trainings and refreshers for GLO staff regarding HIPAA compliance, testing procedures and proper documentation, provides information to participants about HIV, STIs and PrEP and safer sex, assists in the day to day operations at GLO and provides HIV/STI testing.
